The Dewey Disaster Update: Moving Trucks, Layoff Notices for Legal Staff and an Artist

Monday brought more developments about troubled law firm Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP. Both Above the Law and AmLaw reported that there were a few moving trucks in front of the Dewey HQ. Dewey is also believed to have told its legal staff on Friday that they were being laid off and next Friday (May 11) would be their last day. Some people in other departments such as accounting have also being given layoff notices.

On Monday, artist Geoffrey Raymond showed up outside the Dewey HQ and set up shop. Raymond is famous for creating "annotated" portraits of Wall Street icons who have fallen from grace. His latest target - ex-chairman Steven Davis. Passersby could fill up the unfinished portrait by writing remarks on the canvas. Dewey employees have to use a blue Sharpie and others a black one.
