Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP announced today that Joseph P. Vitale has joined the Firm as a partner in the Corporate Department, resident in the New York and Washington, DC offices. Mr. Vitale will lead the Firm's Bank Regulatory Practice.

He has extensive experience advising clients at the intersection of the private equity and banking industries. At Fried Frank, he will provide counsel across a range of matters, specifically representing banks and other regulated financial institutions with respect to regulatory actions and compliance; mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations; financial transactions; and legislative developments. Additionally, Mr. Vitale will advise funds and other parties seeking to invest in or acquire banks and other licensed financial service providers.

“Joseph's extensive banking regulatory experience brings an invaluable perspective that will further enrich the exceptional service we can provide our clients,” said David J. Greenwald, chairman of Fried Frank. “I am thrilled to welcome him to the Firm.”

Mr. Vitale's arrival comes during a period of sustained growth in Fried Frank's Corporate Department as the market continues to experience a significant uptick in transactional activity. The Firm recently welcomed Jeffrey Schatz and Russel Perkins as partners in the Asset Management Practice, and Josh La Grange as partner in the Corporate Department.

“Our robust Corporate Department allows us to work across multiple practices as a cohesive unit, and Joseph's depth of experience will only further bolster our offerings,” added Steven G. Scheinfeld, Global Chair of Fried Frank's Corporate Department. “I am confident that Joseph will be an immediate asset to our clients, and I look forward to working closely with him.”

Mr. Vitale joins from Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP where he was a partner and co-head of the bank regulatory group. He received his JD from Georgetown University Law Center and his AB from the College of the Holy Cross. He is consistently recognized as one of the nation's top attorneys in leading directories and client-survey publications including The Legal 500 US, Chambers Global, and Chambers USA.

“Fried Frank has a renowned reputation in the market for its work with financial institutions and investment funds and I am excited to work with the Firm to advise clients on their most significant regulatory matters and regulated transactions,” said Mr. Vitale.
