Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, announces today that William (Will) Cusack will join the firm’s New York office as shareholder. Will’s practice focuses on employment litigation and counseling management on all aspects of the employer-employee relationship. Will joins Ogletree Deakins from Wilson Elser, where he was a partner. Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Will practiced at two boutique labor and employment firms and interned with both the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and National Labor Relations Board.

Will represents employers in all areas of employment law, including claims involving: race, national origin, age, gender, pregnancy, and disability discrimination; retaliation; labor relations; wage and hour; whistle-blower protection; family and medical leave; equal pay; individual and mass layoffs; drug testing; non-compete agreements; restrictive covenants; workers’ compensation; unemployment insurance; public accommodation; website access; and, many other types of employment-based disputes. Will regularly counsels employers regarding workplace investigations, policy and handbook development, pre- and post-employment procedures, and other day-to-day employment needs. Will also assists federal contractors in the development and implementation of affirmative action programs.

“Will is a natural fit for our New York office because his prior experiences—as both a human resources professional and skilled attorney—provide him with a unique ability to partner effectively with employers for successful resolution of the wide range of legal issues confronting employers in our area. This is certainly true when navigating the multi-faceted regulations enacted by our state and local governments, which may lead to litigation in the absence of sound and practical guidance,” said Stephen Macri, managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins’ New York office. “We welcome Will to our New York team of talented labor and employment attorneys who consistently fulfill the tenets of our Client Pledge to surpass client expectations.”

Will received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton. Will is admitted to practice law in New York and Connecticut federal and state courts and administrative agencies. Will is a member of the Town of Darien’s Representative Town Meeting and serves on the Town Government and Structure Committee.
