The Pittsburgh office opened two years ago in order to meet the growing demand in the Western Pennsylvania area. They have seen steady growth since, with the addition of two partners being a great example of that growth. The firm also moved the office into a new location in the Union Trust Building.

Chairman and Managing Partner Alan J. Hoffman said, “We are thrilled that Amy and Jeremy have joined us in Pittsburgh. Their combined knowledge in the ever-evolving energy and environmental industries will further expand our well-established team in Pennsylvania and beyond. With a new administration taking office, we anticipate shifts in energy and environmental legislation and regulation, which will create new challenges and opportunities for our oil and gas clients. Amy and Jeremy’s breadth of experience representing this sector make them an invaluable asset to our clients during this transition.”

Barrette will focus her work on advising upstream oil and gas companies in their negotiations with Pennsylvania DEP and EPA. She also works with clients on federal and state court actions in a variety of matters like personal injury, contract, zoning, royalty, lease disputes, contamination of water supplies from natural gas drilling operations, and environmental practices.

Mercer will focus his work on advising clients in the shale and hydraulic fracturing industry, counseling them on zoning ordinances and defending them against lease invalidity claims as well as in litigation matters for drilling-related contamination and health allegations. He has extensive experience in federal and state courts with trials and preliminary injunctions and in intermediate and appellate courts in Pennsylvania.

Barrette earned her J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law and her B.A. from Washington & Jefferson College. Mercer received his J.D. from Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and his B.A. from Youngstown State University.
