Patton Boggs Recognized Again as One of the Best Law Firms to Work For

In the latest Vault.com survey of law firm associates, law firm Patton Boggs LLP has once again bagged the top position as one of the best law firms to work for in the United States. The firm continued in its number one ranking in the Pro Bono category, a key area used to decide the "Quality of life" in a law firm by the survey. Since 2008, Patton Boggs has been within the top five in Vault's rankings for Pro Bono.

The law firm also experienced significant improvement in other "Quality of Life" areas in the survey. In Firm Culture and Associate-Partner Relations, respondents ranked the law firm at the second position, up from its number six position last year. The law firm also remained within the top ten on the list of 100 law firms in the key areas of "Best to Work For," "Satisfaction," "Informal Training," and "Compensation."

All in all, the law firm seems to have firmly positioned itself in the market as one of the best destinations for incoming talent, and developed an irresistible employer brand among associates.

To be considered as one of the best in the key areas that matter to any associate, like "compensation" and "best to work for," along with "satisfaction" and chances to improve skills with "informal training" - Patton Boggs has definitely created one of the best recruiting mixes for new law graduates, law students, and attorneys.

In a company press release, Patton Boggs' Chairman Michael S. Forshey said, "Patton Boggs' commitment to pro bono is central to our culture … We believe that public service improves the quality of a lawyer's life, elevates our profession, and 'levels the playing field' by increasing access to justice for disadvantaged individuals and families. We are gratified this unwavering commitment is embraced by our attorneys …"

Managing Partner of Patton Boggs, Edward J. Newberry, said, "I can think of no better evidence of our success than the responses of associates … We look forward to continued progress in creating the very best work environment of any law firm."

Patton Boggs partners are also enjoying a high acceptance rate in case of lateral recruitments. For instance, Jackson Lewis LLP made lateral recruitments of six lawyers from Patton Boggs this month. As BLT, the Blog of Legal Times observed on Monday, since the end of June, at least 22 partners and 11 associates have left Patton Boggs with other big firms like WilmerHale LLP and Arent Fox LLP hiring them. Jackson Lewis has recently joined the group. While this might seem contradictory to Patton's work culture to many people, it is not so, because groups leaving and joining law firms is a regular practice. What matters is where are those who are leaving the law firm ending up. If the destination is lateral and at the same level, it speaks volumes on the trust other law firms have on the work culture of the law firm from where the hires are being made.
