Freeman and Charney advise financial institutions with regulatory and criminal investigations for various government entities and self-regulatory organizations, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, Department of Justice, Commodity Future Trading Commission, and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and the New York State Attorney General.

Chair of the Securities Enforcement & Litigation Practice Beth Boland said, “Jeremy and Allison are among the best in advising financial institutions, companies and individuals involved in litigious situations or under scrutiny by the government. Amidst the shifting terrain of laws and regulations, they are equally adept at conducting internal investigations and troubleshooting issues as they are at combating complex securities cases and enforcement actions.”

Freeman has served as a senior counsel in the SEC’s Enforcement Division and a former prosecutor in Phoenix, Arizona with the Major Felony Unit of the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

New York office managing partner Peter Wang said, “This team brings experience handling the full spectrum of securities and financial services regulatory issues, which will serve our clients and colleagues well.”

Freeman and Charney and their team join from McGuireWoods LLP, where they were partners. There they specialized in government regulatory investigations and enforcement. The other members of their team include special counsels Sarah Hanson and Teresa Wendel, senior counsel Steve Sandover, financial regulatory analyst Ryan Searson, administrative specialist Kellie-Lyn Uszakiewicz, and assistant Lindsey Zyzyck.
