Kirkland & Ellis International LLP Adds Finance Partner
Summary: The London office of Kirkland & Ellis International LLP is excited to add experienced finance partner Jonathan Birks to their group.
Kirkland & Ellis International LLP has made an addition to their London office. Jonathan Birks has joined their Debt Finance Practice Group. He will focus on UK and pan-European real estate finance transactions. He joins from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London where he was a partner.
Chairman of the their Global Management Executive Committee, Jeffrey C. Hammes, explained, “Jonny is widely considered to be one of the leading attorneys in the European real estate finance market. His talent and significant sponsor side experience will further strengthen our leading European finance platform. We look forward to welcoming him to the Firm.”
Matthew Elliott, a partner in the private equity group in London, added, “We are delighted that Jonny will be joining Kirkland. He will add significant additional depth to our debt capabilities in real estate private equity, which has grown to become a core practice area of the London office in the past few years.”
Birks's previous experience includes advising clients ranging from private equity houses, listed property companies, property investors, mezzanine debt funds, sovereign wealth funds, special situations teams, and noteholder groups.
