DLA Piper has quietly resolved its highly publicized legal battle with an ex-client that hit the headlines last month according to a report in the Am Law Daily.
The ex-client, Adam Victor, made public the internal emails from DLA Piper that he had got with regards to a billing dispute with the law firm. In those emails, senior attorneys and partners were making jokes about overcharging him with statements such as “churn that bill, baby” and “That bill shall know no limits”.
DLA Piper has said that the emails were an inexcusable effort at humor and that the firm did not actually bill Victor excessively. Larry Hutcher, who represents Adam Victor, said that his client had reached a deal with the law firm but refused to elaborate on the details.
