My recruiter also knew so many people in the industry and large amounts of detail about each firm.

When I contacted my recruiter in Chicago I said that I wasn't even sure if I wanted to stay in the law. My recruiter was very understanding. There was no coercion, but my recruiter said this is what I have on the table at the moment, these are the firms and this is what they are like. They pointed out that it didn't have to be as it was at my previous firm. My recruiter was very familiar with the Chicago market, and they knew lots of information about the firms that were suggested to me. The pace was pretty fast, all in all, about 3 weeks from discussion to offer. Ultimately, I took an offer and, at the 6 month point, it's exactly as it was described.

My legal placement professional was terrific! She was very on top of the industry and had a lot of great experience. She seemed to really be in touch and knew all of the jobs that were out there looking. She communicated with the firm and me and it was a nice collaboration and to be able to rely on her to communicate with the firms directly. I worked with one other smaller recruiting firm but it seemed like your resources and the articles and the network was helpful. During these crazy pandemic times, it was great to rely on BCG's network so if we hadn't heard from a particular firm she could reach out to her colleagues and figure out where the firm was at - if there was a hiring freeze, are they still recruiting, etc. That was very helpful and insightful!

My legal placement professional was very thorough and extremely helpful with the lateral associate interview preparation and with the types of questions and framing the answers, etc. My legal placement professional handled finding all of the types of firms that I could apply to, doing the research adjusting from a large city to a smaller city, because she scoured the market for me to find the appropriate firms which saved me the time that I would have had to spend doing it.

I worked with a couple of people at BCG at first and was working with another recruiting firm at the same time and they sent my resume out to a few places and they just stopped responding and kindof left me on radio silence, and then my legal placement professional started working with me and she was really responsive and followed up often, updated me on how things were going and made the whole experience really personal and took into consideration my circumstances and my priorities and what I wanted to do and not just a year from now, but a few years, so I appreciated that kind of responsiveness. It felt like it wasn't about the commissions, so that was really nice. It's really hard to find smaller to mid-sized firm opportunities from the other side of the country and so I think finding those opportunities with BCG's help was great.

A couple of weeks ago, I accepted an offer to join the Los Angeles office of Lewis Brisbois as a member of their litigation team in their healthcare and elder law practice group.
