This candidate, a referral from a co-worker on the West Coast, was a complete joy to work with. I first worked with her when she was seeking to lateral from an AmLaw 100 firm in Southern California to a firm in Connecticut, where her husband had recently accepted a job. I placed her with a small firm in the area. While she loved the people she worked with there, the work ended up not being as sophisticated as she had been led to believe it would be during the interview process. In addition, she and her husband realized that they would prefer to live in the White Plains / Westchester region. Therefore, she reached out to me again in order to find a more sophisticated boutique in the White Plains / Westchester region.

Although this candidate did not attend a top law school, she received a merit scholarship that covered a substantial portion of her tuition at a decent law school and did very well there. Upon graduation, she joined a small local firm in Southern California that provided her with experience well beyond her class year. Seeking exposure to larger cases and a broader array of commercial litigation work, after two years, she lateraled to a prestigious AmLaw 100-ranked firm as an Associate.

Because we had already worked together and had a strong rapport, this candidate was extremely easy to work with. She trusted me completely and approved every firm I sent her. Therefore, she received a number of interviews extremely quickly!

After this candidate began receiving interviews, I reached out to all of the firms that were still pending that this candidate was particularly interested in to let them know that although this candidate was now actively interviewing, she remained extremely interested in their particular firm. In response, an extremely prestigious and sophisticated litigation boutique with top notch work and high salaries reached out to request an interview! I had worked with this firm before and knew all of the lawyers to be extremely bright and also extremely nice. I knew it would be a great fit for this particular candidate.

After one round of in-person interviews and one round of Skype interviews with partners in another office, all of which went extremely well, this candidate quickly received a very competitive offered that she was completely thrilled with!

I expect that this was such a fast an easy placement because of the strong rapport I naturally developed with this candidate and the trust that she had in me to lead her through this lateral move. Throughout the process, this candidate quickly approved every firm I sent her and was extremely responsive whenever she received new interviews. She also participated in fairly extensive interview prep sessions with me before every single one of her interviews, which thoroughly prepared her for each interview.
