This candidate is originally from the Midwest, and had majored in both Political Science as well as Environmental Studies during undergrad. Upon graduation, she earned a competitive position with Teach for America, where she taught high school science for two years. Ultimately deciding she still wanted to pursue law school, she was excited and honored to be admitted to law school in Colorado. She was drawn to Colorado being in the Midwest and the school's environmental law program. She knew she would be comfortable there and desired to stay and make her home there upon graduation. She performed very well in law school, earning a position on a Journal, on the top team with the National Moot Court, and a special award for the student who made the greatest contribution to the classroom learning experience.

This candidate also pursued many experiential opportunities during law school, acting as a Judicial Intern and clerking with a local law firm where she performed legal research and drafted memoranda on contract disputes, insurance company obligations, professional ethics questions, and insurance coverage matters. She worked with this firm during her 2L summer and remained on during her 3L year as well. She was highly valued by the firm which had hoped to be able to retain her full-time upon graduation, but ultimately unfortunately realized they did not have enough work to do so. This candidate found herself needing to land on her feet after graduation, and was grateful to find an opportunity with a small insurance defense firm in the area. In her role there, she gained hands-on pre-trial experience in wide range of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, construction defect, legal malpractice, contract disputes and post-judgment collections. She drafted motions for summary judgment, to dismiss, for fees and costs and for change of venue, discovery responses, and initial and supplemental disclosures; and represented clients at various stages in the litigation life cycle including participating in case management conferences, mediations, depositions and arbitrations. She proved herself to be an incredibly hard worker, regularly working 70+ hours a week.

This candidate came to BCG after working at her initial firm for close to a year. Despite being glad to have found the opportunity out of law school as an entry-level associate, she desired to elevate the sophistication of her practice and hoped to find an opportunity with a larger platform in Colorado. She recognized that she was still a fairly junior candidate working at a small firm, but desired to understand what opportunities might be available. BCG recognized that this candidate had stellar academic credentials to boast, as well as a superior work ethic. She had landed on her feet out of law school and established herself as a desired associate at her current firm. She was capable of performing sophisticated complex commercial litigation, and BCG promoted that to various opportunities in the area.

This candidate received multiple indications of interest, including from a firm with various offices throughout the Mountain States. After several rounds of interviews, she was honored to receive an offer with a firm in its commercial litigation group. She found the team and the environment to be very compelling, as well as the substantive work opportunity, and was excited to accept. BCG was very glad to have helped this candidate continue the upward trajectory of her career!
