This candidate grew up in the Mountain states, and gained first-hand insight into the legal profession through his father who ran his own, highly-regarded law firm. After majoring in Political Science in undergrad, the candidate attended a top 25 law school in the Midwest. He focused on coursework and experiential opportunities in litigation, including participating in Moot Court and Trial Advocacy. He planned to return home upon graduation, and completed judicial internships in the area.

After receiving his J.D., this candidate was excited and honored to join his father's firm back in his hometown - a civil litigation firm specializing in insurance defense matters. He gained hands-on, indepth experience handling personal injury claims as well as more complex matters including wrongful employment charges, construction accidents, and class actions. He conducted and defended numerous depositions; led mediation negotiations; participated in both a bench and jury trial, and drafted appellate court briefs. He had planned to stay with this firm long-term. However, he had ended up meeting his significant other in law school, who was from and had returned to Wisconsin upon graduating for a job with a great firm there. The couple remained together long distance, and after many discussions about their future (and an engagement!) - our candidate decided to move to Wisconsin as well and settle down there with his fiance.

This candidate came to BCG for assistance in identifying opportunities in a smaller market (outstate Wisconsin) and where he was not presently located. BCG's vast network and catalog of private practice opportunities in all sectors - biglaw, middle market, and boutique firms - was very helpful to this candidate. Additionally, this individual was a very compelling candidate to many of these firms. First, he had gained very hands-on and meaningful experience in his short career to date, working at a smaller firm where he was highly involved from the outset of his career. Additionally, he had a wonderful reason for moving to the area, as his future-wife was from and committed to the region, had a great job there herself, and was committed to remaining for the long term. And last, this candidate was a high-caliber individual who had graduated from a top law school and performed well, and was very competitive for the region in which he was searching. He was also bar-qualified in the state based on MBE reciprocity.

This candidate received multiple indications of interest and requests for interviews. Firms were excited about the opportunity to hire a junior civil litigator that they could develop with their firm over the long term. He was able to capitalize on visits to the area to see his fianc©e in order to line up multiple conversations, and received various offers arising out of the dialogues. Despite being in a relatively unknown market (outstate Wisconsin), this candidate was able to leverage information on multiple firm opportunities and offers to negotiate compensation. He ended up finding an amazing opportunity in the city in which he and his fianc©e were most interested in living, and the firm was incredibly excited to have the candidate join its team. We were honored to help make this match for this candidate!
