Ropes Advises Bain On $2.1 Billion Acquisition Deal Of Japan's Skylark Chain
Skylark with stores in about 3,600 locations with brands like Gusto Steak Gusto and Jonathan's had sales of more than $4.5 billion in 2010. Bain Capital and Nomura Holdings, to acquire Japan's Skylark restaurant chain, have reached an agreement in which Bain will pay Nomura and other investors a total of $2.1 billion. Ropes & Gray, along with Tsuyoshi Imai in Tokyo and Michael Nicklin in Hong Kong, will be advising Boston-based Bain in the matter. Ever since the beginning of the2008 global financial crisis, this deal has been one of the largest private equity firm buyout in Japan.
