Greenberg Traurig Deepens IP Reach in Philadelphia, Brings Aboard John P. Sullivan Jr.

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP broadened its offerings in its Philadelphia office, with the addition of John P. Sullivan Jr. as a shareholder in its Intellectual Property & Technology Practice.

“We’re absolutely delighted that John has chosen to join Greenberg Traurig, especially for this market,” said Curtis B. Toll, managing shareholder of the Philadelphia office. “Given this region’s dynamic growth in the education and life sciences industries, John provides exciting opportunities for growth for the Philadelphia office. John will be a great conduit, directly plugging our local, national, and global clients into our firm’s top tier corporate and IP practices.”

Sullivan joins Greenberg Traurig from Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, where he was a shareholder handling matters for a range of companies, from incubation to Forbes 100-level. Prior to that, he honed his trademark management and licensing skills at Blank Rome LLP, Volpe & Koenig, P.C., and Pantich Schwarze Belisario & Nadel LLP. He provides counsel on a wide span of issues facing modern corporate leaders, particularly those operating internationally – from navigating online brand management amid emerging and conflicting regulations to combatting counterfeiting to developing innovative trademark enforcement programs.

“Greenberg Traurig represents the logical next iteration for my practice, given its incredible global platform, decorated practice, and expansive opportunities to service my clients with this collaborative network of well-skilled lawyers in every practice,” Sullivan said. “As legal developments in this sector continue to rapidly unfold and advance, establishing my practice at a nimble and innovative firm like this one made sense and felt right.”

“John is a welcome addition to the firm as we continue our strategic growth in key markets, of which Philadelphia certainly is one,” the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Chairs Scott J. Bornstein, Ian C. Ballon, Mark R. Galis, and Viola Bensinger said in a joint statement. “Our ability to deliver quality and value for clients across sectors is enhanced by our increasing presence in this market. We are impressed by the strength of his practice, his drive, and his potential to soar here.”

Admitted in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Sullivan holds strong ties to this area, as a three-time graduate of Villanova University, with an undergraduate degree in political science, a graduate degree in international relations, and a J.D. from its Widger School of Law. He also studied at the University of Oxford as a Connelly-Delouvrier International Scholar.
