Holland & Knight Opens Office in Dallas with 12 Partners from Patton Boggs

Holland & Knight LLP, one of the largest law firms from Florida, has opened its 18th U.S. office in Dallas, Texas. A group of 24 lawyers including 12 partners from Patton Boggs LLP are joining the new Holland & Knight office. The Dallas office will be headed by James C. Chadwick, Former Co-chair of Patton Boggs's business department.

On the occasion of the new group joining the firm, Steven Sonberg, Managing Partner at Holland & Knight said, "The outstanding group of lawyers joining our firm will enable us to expand our existing corporate finance and restructuring practices. In addition, Holland & Knight's entry into the Texas market will offer client expansion opportunities for our other practices."

Speaking on the rationale of opening a Dallas office, Sonberg said, "Dallas is a dynamic legal and business community. We are fortunate to have 23 great lawyers join us. They have premiere clients and practices, and know the market well … The establishment of the Dallas office will further the firm's strategic vision of expansion."

On the departure of the group from Paton Boggs, last week, Patton issued a polite statement declaring that the colleagues leaving their premise were their friends. Additionally, the statement thanked the leaving staff for their service provided and wished them well in their new endeavors.

The group joining Holland & Knight advises institutions and funds on mergers, acquisitions and other business models as well as financial services and corporate sectors on leveraged acquisitions. Moreover, the group is well known for their work in senior and subordinated debt, private placements, leveraged recapitalizations, asset-based lending as well as restructurings and syndicated bank facilities.

Chadwick, joining as an Executive Partner said, "We are pleased to become a part of Holland & Knight. There is significant combined value and overlap between our clients and practices and those of Holland & Knight. The opportunity to lead Holland & Knight's expansion into Texas allows us to become a more valuable local and national partner to our clients as they continue to grow and expand throughout the country. We are excited to be a part of Holland & Knight, and look forward to helping the firm grow in Texas and elsewhere."

In addition to involving 12 partners from Patton Boggs, Holland & Knight has hired 10 associate lawyers and a senior counsel for their new office. Besides Chadwick, other new partners assuming leadership roles in Holland & Knight include, Michelle White Suarez and Matthew Fontane.
