Job Overview:
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a highly qualified Associate Attorney to join its Corporate Department with a focus on employment and labor matters. This position may be based in Washington, D.C., or any of the firm’s U.S. office locations. The role is ideal for an attorney with 5–7 years of employment law experience who is skilled in both advisory and transactional support for corporate clients.

Location:

  • Washington, D.C.

Duties:

  • Provide strategic counsel to corporate clients on employment law compliance, including:

    • Worker classification

    • Wage and hour regulations

    • Immigration-related employment matters

    • Union and collective bargaining issues

    • Equal employment opportunity laws

    • Drafting and updating employment policies and handbooks

  • Draft and negotiate employment-related documents including:

    • Employment agreements

    • Separation agreements

    • Restrictive covenants (non-compete, non-solicit, confidentiality provisions)

  • Advise on workforce reductions and compliance with the WARN Act

  • Conduct employment-related due diligence for corporate transactions

  • Draft and interpret employment reps and covenants in transactional documents

Requirements:

  • 5–7 years of employment law experience at a nationally recognized law firm

  • Strong knowledge of employment-related legal and regulatory frameworks

  • Experience handling employment law aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate deals

  • Proven ability to manage complex matters and client expectations

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in good standing or eligibility to waive into the jurisdiction of the firm office where the attorney will be based (including Washington, D.C.)

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, drafting, and communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities

  • Capable of managing multiple assignments under tight deadlines

  • Team-oriented and client-focused work ethic

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with corporate teams
