Job Overview:

An internationally respected law firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its Infrastructure, Energy, Resources, and Projects Practice Group based in Washington, D.C. The successful candidate will support senior attorneys on a wide range of project finance, joint venture, acquisition, and infrastructure-related matters, with a focus on both U.S. and cross-border transactions. The role includes working with civil law jurisdictions, particularly in Latin America (including Brazil), and offers the opportunity to liaise between international offices.

Location:

  • Washington, D.C.

Duties:

  • Draft, revise, and negotiate project and financing agreements related to infrastructure, energy, and resource projects

  • Support domestic and international business transactions across multiple asset classes

  • Assist in structuring joint ventures, acquisitions/dispositions, and related financing transactions

  • Perform legal due diligence and coordinate with local counsel in the U.S. and foreign civil law jurisdictions

  • Facilitate cross-border legal work involving Latin America (including Brazil)

  • Act as a liaison between Washington, D.C., and affiliated offices in Brazil and Mexico

Requirements:

  • At least one year of legal experience handling international business transactions

  • Demonstrated background in joint ventures, acquisitions/dispositions, and financing transactions

  • Experience with cross-border transactions involving Latin America and civil law jurisdictions

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active member of the District of Columbia Bar

Skills:

  • Proficiency in managing and negotiating cross-border transactional matters

  • Familiarity with legal systems in Latin America and civil law jurisdictions

  • Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills

  • Ability to coordinate across multiple offices and jurisdictions
