A law firm is seeking a Benefits And Executive Compensation Associate Attorney with 4-6 years of experience to join their team in New York City, NY. The ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities, qualifications, and skills:

Job Overview:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel on employee benefits matters, including qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, fiduciary governance, and nonqualified plans.
  • Advise on compensation and benefits issues in corporate transactions, focusing on ESOP transactions.
  • Demonstrate excellent writing skills and attention to detail.
  • Approach tasks with a can-do, problem-solving attitude and intrinsic motivation.
  • Possess strong academic credentials.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on compliance with employee benefits laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review legal documents related to employee benefits and executive compensation.
  • Assist in the negotiation and drafting of agreements in corporate transactions.
  • Conduct legal research on complex benefits and compensation issues.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and firm departments to provide comprehensive legal services to clients.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility for admission by waiver.
  • 4-6 years of experience practicing law, focusing on employee benefits and executive compensation matters.
  • Experience advising clients on qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and fiduciary governance.
  • Familiarity with ESOP transactions and nonqualified plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Certifications:

  • Preferred: Certification in Employee Benefits Law (e.g., Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Certified Pension Consultant (CPC), Certified Benefits Professional (CBP)).

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Prior experience in a large law firm environment is preferred.
