Juris Doctor, Loyola Law School
Bachelor of Arts, University of California, Los Angeles

Gloria Noh Cannon is a recruiter in our Los Angeles office. After graduating from Loyola Law School, where she was a member of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review, she spent more than four years as an associate in the financial restructuring department of one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious law firms, Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. She also spent more than five years as an in-house attorney at Oaktree Capital Management, LLC, a well-respected registered investment adviser based in Los Angeles. Her experience both as a law firm associate and an in-house attorney has provided her with great exposure to, and consequently a broad knowledge of, the law firms on the West Coast. Her experience also provides her with a unique perspective on the different pressures and challenges in a variety of legal environments. Gloria was also a member of Milbank's summer recruiting and hiring committees. Thus, she has great insight into the recruiting and decision-making processes at law firms.

Gloria joined BCG because of its unique approach to, and high standard of excellence in, legal recruiting. Her goal is to find the best possible match for both the law firm and candidate. In order to accomplish this goal, she takes the time to thoroughly understand a candidate's desires and goals, both personal and professional, in order to find the best fit for the candidate and simultaneously provide law firms with the best possible candidates for their needs. She looks forward to helping candidates find their "dream jobs" and providing law firms with their ideal associates.

Gloria is a native of Los Angeles and an avid UCLA fan. She also is actively involved with the Dream Street Foundation, a nonprofit organization that operates summer camps for terminally ill children.

  • I can't say enough about the wonderful advantage Gloria at BCG brought to my job search. Within weeks of beginning my job search with BCG, Gloria helped to draft a professional and aggressive resume and I soon landed interviews with top firms in the L.A. market. Gloria was patient and extremely helpful in answering my questions and preparing me for the interviews so I knew exactly what to expect. Because of the help I obtained from Gloria, I recently accepted an offer from a prestigious L.A. firm. I could not have obtained such a wonderful position without Gloria’s help and I am forever in her debt. I also want to tell you that Gloria did an amazing job for me. She helped me get interviews with firms that would have been unobtainable on my own, and she was always so patient with my questions and concerns. I can't say enough about her work.

  • I had never worked with a recruiter until I contacted BCG and have to admit that I was initially skeptical about using one. I thought that a recruiter would only be concerned about placing a candidate in any position as quickly as possible, regardless of whether the position was truly the right fit for that candidate, so that the recruiter could collect his or her fee and move on to the next candidate. However, because of my extremely hectic schedule, I did not have the time to research law firms and send out my resume and other materials on my own. Thus, I decided to do a random search on google for attorney recruiters and actually contacted another company which stated that it could not help me, but referred me to BCG.

I submitted my resume to BCG and Gloria contacted me several days later to inform me that she would be happy to assist me with my job search. From the first time that we spoke, Gloria was extremely enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and patient. She explained how the process would work step-by-step and spent a great deal of time speaking with me to learn about me, not just as a lawyer, but as a person.

As the job search progressed, Gloria was always available to answer any questions I had and to provide encouragement when it seemed to me that I would never find a job that suited my needs. In addition, once law firms began expressing interest, Gloria took care of everything- from scheduling the interview to providing me with the interview schedules, to sending me articles about the interview process.

I recently received and accepted an offer from a firm that I think is a great fit for me. I am extremely excited to begin my new job, and definitely would not be in this position if it hadn't been for Gloria. I would recommend Gloria and BCG to any attorney out there who is looking for his or her dream job.

  • Today I started my new job, and I just wanted to let you know that I never would have secured this position without the expert assistance of Gloria. Working with Gloria was an incredibly positive experience. Although my credentials are good, I know that placing me would be potentially challenging because I had to leave the field after less than a year of practice at a big law firm in New York to tend to a family issue. Plus, law is a second career for me.

Gloria addressed these challenges with intelligence and grace. She helped me revise my resume to emphasize my strengths, conducted a couple of practice interview sessions in which she asked me all the hard questions, and, perhaps most important, consistently offered me positive encouragement. In addition, she encouraged me to consider firms that I ordinarily would not have considered. And when I began to land interviews, she gave me information about the firms and the individuals with whom I would meet that would prove to be invaluable.

In short, Gloria was the best type of recruiter that I could have hoped for: she offered me useful advice on my resume and interviewing skills, helped me anticipate the types of questions I would be asked, found great opportunities for me, and, finally, believed in me. I will always be grateful to Gloria for helping me to resume my career path and to your firm for the extraordinarily personal attention that you devote to your candidates.

  • Gloria has been more thorough than any other recruiter I've spoken to. I really appreciate the questions she has asked me, and the improvements she made to my resume.

  • Your professionalism and dedication to understanding each candidate's need[s] are the most impressive. Thank you for your excellent services and advice to my job search in the past.

  • I write to express my sincere appreciation for the work Gloria has provided in helping me find a job. Gloria's assistance, knowledge, and enthusiasm are unparalleled.

My case was not an easy one, and Gloria's methods of assistance have been helpful. She covered all the bases: reviewing my resume, drafting a cover letter, educating me about the firms I would be visiting, and quizzing me with sample interview questions. And even though I am admittedly an impatient person, she fielded my daily phone calls and always had immediate answers.

Most important, Gloria has a true enthusiasm for the work that she does and the people she works with. She always has a great attitude. In sum, Gloria is the best recruiter I have ever worked with. Her knowledge, enthusiasm, skill, and prowess are unequaled.
