The cover letter, that the people I was working with drafted, I thought it was very thoughtful, and I appreciate the level of detail. Another thing I certainly appreciated during my experience working with BCG, is the amount of applications that the recruiter had been sending out on a daily basis. The volume of work that was done to help me secure position, definitely appreciated. It was easier because it took all of the leg work out of the equation for me, and to not have to research listings. To actually go through the process of submitting a formal application can be obviously very time consuming. Also had someone who could help me negotiate compensation packages, be the middleman, and take the awkwardness involved out of the situation in a very seamless, almost effortless experience for me. On a scale of zero to 10, I'd probably put it at 8.5, because prior to working with BCG, I did speak with several other recruiting agencies, and in the beginning, they would be very active and follow up timely, then very quickly the relationship would disintegrate and then I would never hear from them, so I guess compared to that, I would give it at at least an 8.5.
BCG Attorney Search is the best! Becca really listened to what I was looking for and gave very fair and impartial advice. I really appreciated that. Even when I was considering in-house as well, she would give me very fair advice, knowing that she wouldn't make a commission if I went in-house. So I really appreciated her being a really great sounding board and resource. I think Becca really just found the firms that I would be a great fit at and gave me feedback on a lot of different firms in her personal opinions and based on client's she had placed there before. BCG was very helpful and got me the job!
University of Chicago Law School, Class Of 2017
Placed at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLPMy favorite thing about working with BCG was I like their way of presenting you with various opportunities, with the database and when I worked with other recruiters, they didn't do that. The way that everything was organized was my favorite part, I knew which positions I had been submitted for and would get my updates, it was just very organized which made it easy. I would say that BCG is above average when it comes to working with other legal recruiting services.
UC Berkeley School of Law, Class Of 2016
Placed at Bradley R. Kirk & Associates, Inc.My favorite thing about working with BCG Attorney search was the constant communication. This really helped me to stay on task and gave me deadlines. Oh, and the fact that they got me the job!
South Texas College of Law, Class Of 2019
Placed at McGlinchey Stafford PLLC.It's hard to narrow down my favorite thing about BCG Attorney search, but I think that from the beginning to the end, Harrison and everyone I worked with at BCG was extremely responsive in identifying opportunities and coaching and just all the way around, client service. This made my job search easier because it got me access to a lot of quality opportunities quickly. My queue with jobs that were suited to my level of experience and practice areas of interest and geographic areas, if I had to search for all of these opportunities myself on job websites, it would have been a full time job in itself. BCG is #1!
My favorite part of working with BCG Attorney Search was that I got active notifications and seemed like they were really on top of the opportunities available. This made my job search easier because I found a job pretty easy, I think it was one of the first ones that I applied to and it ended up being a great fit. I had a good experience.

Placed at Rogers Joseph O'Donnell, PCSarah, in particular, was very knowledgeable and helpful. She was also very very positive. She helped pump me up before interviews and decipher if I liked the law firm after interviews. Those were the key things. [BCG] is unique in the sense that other recruiters I have worked with don't presumptively apply to law firms. You guys applied to 80 or 90 law firms on my behalf, even if there weren't postings which ended up being what got me a job in the end. Q. Where would we rank amongst other recruiting company's? A. Definitely top, out of 5- top 2! Sarah was really really great and probably the best recruiter I have ever worked with.
George Washington University Law School, Class Of 2017
Placed at Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLPShe was very efficient and she found me a job very quickly. Without much trouble. She found an opportunity that I would not have found myself with a fantastic firm with great benefits so she enabled me to find opportunities that I normally wouldn't have had access to. I haven't worked with any, other recruiting companies in the past, but I would rate BCG as very high considering the speed at which they found an opportunity for me, as well as the quality of the firms that they work with.
My favorite thing about working with BCG Attorney Search and Harrison Barnes was that they provided a really comprehensive list of potential employers and it was simple for me to apply to those employers. Essentially all I had to do was green light them and BCG took care of the rest. This made my job search easier because it was super passive on my end and all I had to do was review the employers list and green light the ones I wanted BCG to apply to on my behalf and then BCG took care of the rest so there wasn't really a lot that I had to do which freed up to do other things. BCG Attorney Search is the best legal recruiting firm that I have worked with. During my job hunt, I was contacted by 2 other recruiting firms, and BCG was the one that got me the job. I had the best luck working with them and they also set me up with an actual attorney who prepped me for interviews and that was really helpful. They were also the most responsive. The other recruiting firms that had reached out didn't do a great job of responding to my emails and other correspondence.
Villanova University School of Law, Class Of 2020
Placed at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP.The interview prep guy I worked with was great, the recruiters made things painless. I didn't have to do the search on my own, which made it easier. I haven't worked with other recruiters, so I don't know how BCG compares.
George Washington University Law School, Class Of 2015
Placed at Lando & Anastasi, LLPI think my favorite thing was just how proactive she was. She was sending my resume out to firms that she had connections with that weren't necessarily looking for a new attorney position. That's actually how I got my job, she reached out to the firm I'm with now. They weren't necessarily looking, but they set up an interview and then it just worked out perfectly. It made it so much easier. She took care of scheduling the interviews, getting the interviews, making sure that I was prepared for the interviews. She took care of everything for me. This was my first time working with a recruiting company so, they're at the top of my list right now.
California Western School of Law, Class Of 2017
Placed at Hughes & PizzutoI'd say right from the get-go you guys were very detail-oriented, really focused on my particular profile and helped me build my skills and draft my resume in a way that will be good for me. We started working just a year ago. Throughout the year, I was always contacted by the team that had placements to offer, and you kept on searching and a year after we started working together, it all panned out. It's been great.I think it made it significantly easier in that instead of me having to look for the positions that would be a match for my profile, which is very time consuming, even though you may have LinkedIn or other services that help you, it's just time consuming and frustrating because you work on it so hard and then it's not always good news after you present your credentials. Having that done for me made the process significantly easier on my schedule and allowed me to focus on my current work and my academic activities instead of dedicating a couple hours every day or every week to do a job search.I think, hands down, the best. Absolutely, the best. The first conversations that we've had, your team always read my curriculum before having the conversation with me. They did research on my profile, and what was I good at, and my publications. They knew all of that before talking to me, so they were able to keep the conversation very on point, very productive, because they already knew what my profile was. That's something that nobody else did for me. It's been great, really, absolutely great.
Georgetown University Law Center, Class Of 2018
Placed at Day & Associates, LLCI didn't work specifically with a recruiter actually for this job - it was odd. In the past I had a conversation with Harrison, but it wasn't related to this job, it was career advice, and I spoke directly with Harrison. Finding this job, it was serendipitous, I am not sure I know, or remember. What happened was, I selected this Firm for approval, and it directed me to go to their site, and apply. Then Ballard reached out through BCG, so, I think it was through the alerts and emails to approve firms, that I learned about them. I would rank BCG toward the top.
I have worked with her 3 times and it has been a great experience each time. I love her enthusiasm and her ability to find me just the right place that fits my needs - that has been my favorite part. [BCG] does the entire thing so other than looking for government or in-house jobs I relied completely on BCG! I have been very happy with the process, which is why I keep coming back.
University of San Francisco School of Law, Class Of 2002
Placed at Saltzman & Johnson Law CorporationBasically, I didn't have to do anything until I got the job offer. I never had to check in, she would check in with me and she always worked around my schedule if I was really busy. It made it possible for me to look for and get a new job while working full time and being busy with my other job. My legal placement professional did a really good job at editing my materials that I sent in and giving me ideas on them, which usually others just edited grammar and such on them.Q.Where would we rank amongst other recruiting company's?A.You check in more often, which is really nice. She also checked in with the firm's more often, she kept checking in with the hiring partners to give me updates and I hadn't seen that before. Usually recruiters told me that they had to wait 14 days and she didn't.
Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Class Of 2012
Placed at Jackson Lewis P.C.I love the fact that I constantly was getting emails. Maybe that is annoying, but I love that tactic because it actually you guys were looking out for me, Hey, check your firms that or jobs that we have ready for you. That constant information, you made it easier because everything was centralized. And I was able to just point and click at the jobs that I liked. And made sure that, I got the right one, which I'm now in for. 10 out of 10.
South Texas College of Law, Class Of 2019
Placed at Winget, Spadafora & Schwartzberg, LLPHow did working with us make you job search easier? They found me a job! They would send me stuff every day and they set me up with the job I took. I was very surprised - I am still very young in my career and I didn't think a recruiter would work with me but they were pretty thorough. Where would we rank amongst other recruiting company's? I talked with a few other ones and they would say "Hey, we will keep you in mind and put you up for stuff" and then I would never hear from them again. There was one where they kept putting me up for temp stuff and I told them I wasn't interested in that. I don't know how seriously any other company took my candidacy but it was really night and day.
What where some of your favorite things about working with BCG and Harrisons' Team? The fact that it was mostly automated. I would be asked to approve firms and approve jobs that my credentials would be sent to. This was mostly done electronically which I found very convenient. How did working with us make you job search easier? BCG did all the leg work. BCG found the job openings and reported them to me so all I had to do was approve the opening. It saved me time from having to go through individual law firm websites. Where would we rank amongst other recruiting company's? BCG was the best. I did work with a couple other recruiter's and from my personal observation they had less access to job openings. I heard much more from BCG than I did from the other recruiters. The other recruiters tended to not be automated and I would get a phone call to discuss it in real time which often wasn't convenient and we ended up playing phone tag a lot. BCG was the best because of the volume of openings that BCG was able to get access to and because of the convenient nature of the interaction.
Western Michigan University (WMU) Cooley Law School, Class Of 2018
Placed at Fox Rothschild LLP.What where some of your favorite things about working with BCG and Harrison's Team? Responsiveness and general guidance. The interview prep with Patrick was particularly helpful. How did working with us make you job search easier? It took care of the whole entire thing. The individual search gets very cumbersome when scouring between dozens, if not hundreds, of different firms. BCG had already done all that work and had summarized each firm. When the list got in front of me the work was done and it was very easy for me to narrow down from that. Where would we rank amongst other recruiting company's? #1. You are the only one that got me a job.Is there anything else you would like to add about your experience?Carleen and Patrick were particularly helpful. The interview prep and post interview feedback was invaluable. I wasn't really expecting that and that level of attention to detail was great. Also, the process was extremely quick. From reaching out to Carleen I think it was less than a month or 2 to my start date. There was downtime initially when I was getting back with you on the firms but once we really go the ball rolling it was 2-3 weeks to a start date which was way faster and way more successful than I anticipated.
Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, Class Of 2019
Placed at Scopelitis, Garvin, Light, Hanson & Feary, PCSarah is just a great spirited person and very energetic and lots of great ideas. She kept everything going and on the ball. BCG has a really great computer generated programs that really keep you motivated and keep you focused on what you are doing and Sarah worked will with it to keep your focus. I think that is what really sets [BCG] apart! I haven't used a recruiter in a while but from what I recall no one has had a system like that in the past and you guys really stand out in that regard.[BCG made my job search] a million times easier! You really took the burden of digging off of me and presented a lot of firms that I would have never thought of - including the place I am going to. You found all the jobs for me and presented them to me and I was able to just say Yes or No. You did all the leg work for me and once the ball got rolling and I had some interviews going I was able to shine from there. The idea of putting my resume out to firms that are not necessarily looking is a really phenomenal idea. I am not sure if the firm that took me in for interviews were actively looking or just starting to look but I think that is what actually happened.Sarah's positive attitude was really great and I will absolutely recommend her to anybody I know that is looking to move. Sarah was a pleasure to work with. I started this process slowly a couple years ago and I recently started it up again with Sarah - in the meantime I had reached out to a couple other New York based recruiter's and had some really negative experiences with them. They would tell me that since I had been in house for the past couple years and since I hasn't been as active and don't have an active client base and they pretty much just told me I was "out to pasture" and Sarah had a totally different take on that. She would tell me "don't worry about it, we're going to get through this and find your place" and sure enough I did. Not only that, I found a place that I didn't ever think I could be as happy with the situation I am in. Sarah also advised me well when I had multiple offers at the same time; she really helped me navigate that process. She did an excellent job from start to finish. I appreciate that she cared about me and not just her fee. It was really about me and that is RARE! She really encouraged me to apply to places that were good for me for where I am in my life and she also did a lot of research on the firms before sending me there.
Yale Law School, Class Of 1995
Placed at DelBello Donnellan Weingarten Wise & Wiederkehr, LLPThe website - being able to approve firms and everything is sent off without having to worry about anything further beyond approving the firms. Generally it was a pretty easy process. The way the website aggregates the firms and gives you the option to approve either the specific position or exclude the firm entirely is helpful. The process is pretty seamless and it takes it out of your hands.
University at Buffalo Law School, Class Of 2013
Placed at Underberg & Kessler LLP.Hello Harrison, I've read dozens of your articles over the years, and I recommend your site all the time to friends and family (including non-lawyers, because they can benefit from learning to see their careers from a business perspective). I have been unable to find a free database of information about the legal job market anywhere the internet that is in the same league in terms of depth of coverage. Your articles dig into every nuance imaginable about how to succeed in the legal marketplace, how to think about resume and cover letter drafting, how to get inside the head of partners, law firms, recruiters, clients, etc. Anyways, it's incredibly helpful. Thanks!
Job searching is always stressful no matter what, and adding a global pandemic on top of that is extremely stressful. Having someone to guide and coach me through that process took a huge weight off my shoulders. Sarah was always available, extremely kind, and very personable and easy to talk to. I felt like she really cared about where I ended up and I always enjoyed my conversations with her. She was always very happy and excited, which made me feel happy and excited about the process rather than stressed out. Rather than having to look up new job openings and reach out to firms myself, you all did the upfront hard work for me. That allowed me to focus on perfecting my resume, cover letter, and preparing for interviews. I really enjoyed my experience working with Sarah, and I am very happy with the job I ended up at because of her. It turned out to be a perfect fit and was a very easy process. Q. Where would we rank/compare to other recruiting companies you may have used?A. I have not used any other companies before, but I would recommend BCG to anyone and I would be happy to work with Sarah again in the future if I ever decide to get a new job.
University of Arkansas School of Law, Class Of 2018
Placed at Scharnhorst Ast Kennard Griffin, PCSarah responded to my initial inquiry very quickly. She was amiable, professional, positive and diligent throughout our interactions. She really connected with me on my unique situation and served as a guide throughout my entire process (which took a little over a year in total, including about 7 months while connected with Sarah). Conversations with her gave me confidence and encouragement. Sarah was instrumental in getting me a job. I was trying to make a big jump in practice areas (from U.S. federal financial regulatory and transactional work in an AM 100 firm with a cross-border focus to a family law litigation practice), and would have been totally lost in the process without her. She reached out to firms all across my region and her contacts helped connect me with the firm that ultimately hired me. She also helped me prepare for interviews, navigate the offer process to leverage another firm's offer to my benefit, and generally sift through the more personal elements associated with taking a big career risk. I could not be more happy with the firm I was able to get a job with. This was the absolute best outcome I could have hoped for (and frankly probably wouldn't have thought possible on my own) when I began the process. This is absolutely thanks to Sarah's support.
The outcome was incredible. I am exactly in the position that I always wanted to be in and dreamed of. This wouldn't have happened without [BCG] and Sarah taking a keen interest and doing an awesome job. She was really easy to talk to, really encouraging and helpful in getting me as prepared as I could be by giving me tips and advice going into interviews. She reached out to the right firms and contact and everything worked out perfectly. It put me in contact with the right firm ultimately and it wasn't a firm that had anything posted. I ended up at Barnes Richardson and Colburn and they didn't have an open position but Sarah somehow knew that they had potentially expressed some kind of interest in finding somebody with my type of background. It made it easier because it opened up a door that I didn't know existed and ultimately it was the right door to go through.I just can't say enough good things about her. Such a friendly and professional person who had a huge impact on my life and made my life totally different because she took the time to reach out to me and work with me and work on my behalf. I just want to express my appreciation, really.Q. Where would we rank amongst other recruiting company's?A. Definitely the best!
