Troy office of our client seeks associate attorney with 1-3 years of relevant high volume legal experience, preferably in the debtor/creditor field. The candidate will support clients in the creditors' rights industry specifically legal collections. With appropriate supervision depending on experience, will achieve resolution of client issues through routine negotiation and/or litigation requiring fundamental legal knowledge and experience, as well as practice other phases of law on various assignments of increasing complexity. Directly and indirectly contribute to the financial success of the firm. Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external clients. Represent clients at legal, administrative and other proceedings as assigned. Research and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations and formulate legal opinions for review. Identify causes of action and prepare lawsuits based upon an investigation of facts and applicable laws and procedures. Conduct discovery in conformity with applicable rules. Interview clients and witnesses in preparation for legal proceedings. Review, draft, and/or dictate legal briefs, correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents. Act in compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and other applicable consumer protection statutes and regulations. Participate in the development of strategy, arguments, and testimony in preparation for presentation of cases. Represent and promote the firm within the community and at public, social, and business gatherings as appropriate. Monitor routine case files to formulate next course of action and ensure deadlines are maintained. Assign and review the work of department staff, as required. Develop and maintain relationships with current clients. Negotiate with individuals to achieve final resolution of cases, arrange legal settlements, and resolve routine issues, as assigned. Complete both required and applicable optional learning classes and opportunities. Complete all required training applicable to assigned position. Litigation experience is preferred. Valid license in the state of Michigan is required. Must hold a current, valid state license to practice law, and practice according to the rules of professional conduct and ethical standards as required by the attorney's licensing state.

The candidate must have a J.D. degree.
