Job Overview: A law firm in Melbourne, VICTORIA is seeking a dynamic and experienced Technology Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in handling diverse and high-profile matters related to technology, including acquisitions, licensing, outsourcing, government procurement, data licensing, privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.

Job Duties:

  • Work on a variety of high-profile and market-leading matters involving the acquisition, licensing, and/or supply of large-scale hardware, information technology, telecommunications systems, and other goods and services.
  • Manage outsourcing, managed services, cloud, and bespoke contractual arrangements.
  • Handle government procurement matters at both State and Federal levels.
  • Address issues related to data licensing, privacy, data breach, and cybersecurity.
  • Provide legal expertise in the field of artificial intelligence.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years post-qualification experience with a focus on matters involving telecoms, privacy, cyber, large-scale outsourcing projects, and technology procurement.
  • Proven experience in transactional technology work.
  • Outstanding written, drafting, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong desire to work on complex, high-profile matters.
  • Ability to anticipate, prioritize, and effectively manage competing deadlines.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications in technology law, data privacy, or cybersecurity are a plus.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of technology law, with a focus on telecoms, privacy, cyber, outsourcing, and procurement.
  • Exceptional legal research and analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiation and contract drafting abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex legal matters efficiently.
