BCG's Palo Alto office reflects an intensified activity in the legal market that picked up considerably after the slow years following the Internet bubble bust.
With the reawakening of the business activity, the Silicon Valley legal market has not been far behind. This upswing in activity has been deemed a propitious time for BCG to branch out into this geographic area that is dotted with offices of national law firms. The CEO of BCG Attorney Search, Harrison Barnes, is very hopeful that the time is right to enter this particular market: ''We have been covering the Silicon Valley market from our San Francisco office for some time now. However, the business activity in Palo Alto reached a point where we think it is logical to have a full-fledged office that will handle the hiring needs of law firms in this area.'' A number of prominent, national firms opened or re-opened offices in Silicon Valley, indicating the faith the legal community has in the strength of the local entrepreneurial spirit.
The city itself is one of California's finest and an excellent place to work. According to Palo Alto's website, ''The city's boundaries extend from San Francisco Bay on the east to the Skyline Ridge of the coastal mountains on the west, with Menlo Park to the north and Mountain View to the south. The City encompasses an area of approximately 26 square miles, of which one-third is open space. Palo Alto is strategically located and easily accessible to major surface routes, including Interstate 280, Highway 101, Highway 84-the Dumbarton Bridge-and Highway 92-the Hayward-San Mateo Bridge.
''Air transportation is easily accessible by bus, automobile or shuttle service to San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland international airports. Within the City, commuter rail transportation is conveniently located and the Palo Alto stop is one of the most used in the CalTrain system. Alternative transportation options include numerous bike paths throughout the City and an internal shuttle service is also available.''
