Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Matrimonial and Family Law Attorney in Richfield, Minnesota. This role offers the opportunity to join a small, established practice with existing client demand. The candidate will work in person multiple days per week, with the firm planning a future move to the Edina area.

Duties

  • Handle divorce matters
  • Manage child custody and parenting-time disputes
  • Address child support issues
  • Oversee spousal maintenance/alimony matters
  • Conduct post-decree modifications
  • Engage in motion practice
  • Perform discovery and financial disclosures
  • Provide client counseling and strategy
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel
  • Participate in court appearances, mediations, and contested hearings
  • Collaborate with family law attorneys and administrative support

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in Minnesota
  • Family law/matrimonial experience required
  • 2+ years of family law experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage client expectations and emotionally sensitive matters
  • Strong organizational and case-management ability
  • Comfort working in a small-firm environment
  • Willingness to work in person multiple days per week in the Richfield/Edina area
  • Technology proficiency and ability to work efficiently preferred
  • Foreign language ability is a plus, but not required

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Minnesota
