Job Overview: A law firm seeks a skilled Renewable Energy Tax Associate Attorney to provide expert guidance on tax matters related to renewable energy transactions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in tax credit transactions and tax equity financings and possess excellent academic credentials, preferably holding an LL.M. in taxation.

Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive tax advice and support to clients engaged in renewable energy transactions.
  • Advise clients on beginning construction requirements, prevailing wage requirements, and apprenticeship requirements under code sections 45 and 48.
  • Assist in M&A transactions, tax equity transactions, tax credit transfers, and other joint ventures within the renewable energy sector.
  • Conduct thorough research on tax laws, regulations, and rulings relevant to renewable energy projects.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including tax opinion letters, contracts, and agreements.

Requirements:

  • 3-8 years of experience in a law firm environment, specializing in tax law.
  • Proficiency in tax credit transactions, transfers, and equity financings.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy tax incentives and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Preferred Education and Certifications:

  • LL.M. in taxation.
  • Admission to the State Bar in North Carolina or eligibility for admission through reciprocity.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and databases.
  • Ability to provide strategic tax advice to clients.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
