A law firm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Employment Attorney to join their team in Raleigh, NC. The ideal candidate will have 1-4 years of relevant experience in employment law and possess a strong understanding of both state and federal employment laws.

Job Overview:

The Labor and Employment Attorney will be crucial in counseling and defending employers on various matters, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and providing strategic legal advice. The candidate should be able to analyze employment documentation, assess risk, and advise clients during mergers and acquisitions.

Duties:

  • Counsel and defend employers in matters involving FLSA, FMLA, federal discrimination statutes, and state wage and hour laws.
  • Analyze employment documentation, including policies, practices, and agreements.
  • Assess risk and advise clients in due diligence related to mergers and acquisitions.
  • Draft and counsel employers on employment-related contracts, such as employment agreements, severance agreements, and covenants not to compete.
  • Stay updated on employment laws related to employee hiring, discipline, leave, and termination.
  • Conduct legal research and produce well-reasoned and persuasive written work.

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of relevant experience in employment law.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Preferred: Employment litigation experience.
  • Preferred: Top-tier law school and top-tier firm experience.
  • Preferred: NC Bar admission.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the North Carolina Bar (preferred).

  • Strong understanding of state and federal employment laws.
