Job Overview:
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a highly qualified mid-level Associate Attorney to join its Corporate Department with a focus on employment and labor matters. This position is available in Charlotte or any of the firm's U.S. offices. The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years of employment law experience and a demonstrated ability to advise corporate clients on a wide range of labor and employment issues, including compliance, agreements, workplace policies, and transaction support.

Location:

  • Charlotte, NC

Duties:

  • Advise clients on employment-related compliance, including:

    • Worker classification

    • Wage and hour matters

    • Immigration

    • Labor union and collective bargaining issues

    • Equal opportunity laws

    • Employment policies and handbooks

  • Draft and review employment agreements and separation agreements

  • Provide legal counsel on reductions-in-force and WARN Act compliance

  • Draft and advise on restrictive covenants (non-competes, non-solicits, etc.)

  • Conduct employment-related due diligence in corporate transactions

  • Review and draft employment-related representations and covenants in transaction documents

Requirements:

  • 5–7 years of experience practicing employment law at a nationally recognized law firm

  • Ability to work independently and in coordination with corporate and transactional teams

  • Proven experience counseling corporate clients in both advisory and transactional contexts

  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in good standing (or eligibility to waive in) for the jurisdiction of the office where the candidate will be based

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills

  • Strong communication and client-relations capabilities

  • High attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously

  • Team-oriented work ethic with a focus on client service and collaboration
