Stephen O'Neil joins DLA Piper as chief strategy officer
DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Stephen O’Neil has joined the firm’s leadership team as its first chief strategy officer.
In this role, O’Neil will prepare the firm for opportunities presented by today’s global marketplace and implement practices to enhance its ability to serve clients across practices, industries and geographies. He will work closely with DLA Piper’s US, Americas and Global Management teams on strategy, investment, operations and talent.
O’Neil joins DLA Piper from Ernst & Young LLP, where he held both client-facing and practice leadership roles. Recently, he served as Americas Markets Leader for International Tax and Transaction Services, a role in which he contributed to the firm’s efforts to serve large US and non-US based multinationals on their most pressing operational and strategic matters.

O’Neil has practiced in New York, London and Paris in the areas of US domestic and international taxation. He has served a wide range of US and non-US multinational corporations spanning most major industries, including consumer product, defense, energy, entertainment, financial services, law, manufacturing, media, pharmaceutical and telecommunications, as well as the aviation and chemical industries. His in-depth experience includes cross-border structuring, mergers and acquisitions, post-acquisition integration, divestitures, operational planning, international finance, transfer pricing, corporate taxation, partnership taxation, and state and local taxation. Prior to his Americas role, O’Neil led the Ernst & Young LLP (UK) Global Tax Desk Team in the EMEIA region.

Stephen joins DLA Piper with the strong support of his wife, Lana, and children, Erin and Stephen, Jr.
