Prominent New York Trial Lawyer Further Strengthens Cooley’s Litigation Practice

The ranks of Cooley LLP’s New York office intensified in legal strength with the hiring of Philip Bowman. Bowman, a commercial litigator, arrives from Boies Schiller Flexner, where he was a partner, and played a central role in many of the firm’s most substantial litigation cases for the last ten years.

Mike Attanasio, chair of Cooley’s global litigation department, said of Bowman, “Cooley’s New York litigation practice gains a powerful addition with the arrival of Phil Bowman. Phil brings first-chair trial experience from high-profile cases and is widely known among many leading financial institutions. On the heels of the arrival of litigation partners Jonathan Kim in New York and Eric Kuwana in Washington, DC, Cooley's East Coast momentum is unparalleled in the market today. I’m excited for what we all will achieve together.”

Bowman concentrates his litigation talents within the state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels throughout the US. Additionally, Bowman focuses on arbitrations in domestic and international disputes. His expert field entails litigation of securities, commodities, financial products and antitrust cases for financial institutions. Bowman has also represented sports and entertainment clients in litigation and arbitration involving MLB, MLS and America’s Cup.

Bowman states, “I will always value the years I spent at Boies Schiller where I leave behind many lifelong friends, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside some of the very best trial lawyers in the country.”
