Barnes & Thornburg Adds New Business and Consumer Financial Litigator
Summary: Barnes & Thornburg added a highly accomplished litigator to their Minneapolis Litigation Department.
Managing Partner Connie Lahn of the Minneapolis office said, “Brian has more than two decades of experience managing complex commercial litigation and consumer protection matters. He’s highly regarded in business and legal circles in the Twin Cities and is a splendid addition to our team.”
Melendez, a trial and appellate attorney, will use his experience to work on consumer-credit litigation, business torts, contractual disputes and nationwide class actions. His clients include Fortune 100 companies in cases under federal and state consumer-protection statutes. He has defended nationwide class actions under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and other cases in the Consumer Credit Protection Act, the Truth in Lending Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and Fair & Accurate Credit Transactions Act, and the Minnesota Prevention of Consumer Fraud Act.
He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School, an M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity School, and an A.B. from Harvard University. He is admitted to practice law in Minnesota and Florida and before the U.S. Supreme Court.
