Wilmer Partner Headed for Judgeship
It was a unanimous selection of Paul Engelmayer, the partner in charge of Wilmer's New York office since 2005, for a federal judgeship by U.S. Senate. The stats were confirmed as 98-0. This has been eight days after the confirmation of J. Paul Oetken, on July 18, who is the first person to confirm for U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Engelmayer was also chief of the major crimes unit at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District. He served as an assistant to the U.S. solicitor general two years, and was a former clerk to the late Justice Thurgood Marshall.
