Jamie Bailey is Managing Director of BCG's Chicago office and is responsible for BCG's Midwest region. Prior to establishing BCG's Chicago office, she acted as recruiting director for Hopkins & Sutter and Foley & Lardner in Chicago. With more than 20 years of experience in the legal industry, her contacts in the Midwest are pervasive. She has access to a breadth of high-level legal professionals, including managing partners, hiring partners, practice group leaders and recruiting professionals.

Jamie has placed associate- and partner-level candidates in virtually every practice area in the most prestigious international, national, regional and boutique law firms across the Midwest, including law firms in Chicago, Michigan, Minneapolis, Ohio, and Wisconsin, and also in Colorado. She has particular expertise in exclusive and contingency searches at the partner level, and works extensively with managing and hiring partners in firms of all sizes on mergers and practice group acquisitions. Law firm managing partners and practice group leaders have also called upon Jamie to assist them with internal lateral hiring strategies, practice group growth and acquisitions, and servicing their corporate clients' hiring needs. Her most recent endeavors include helping a Chicago law firm establish a New York office, working with a regional firm expanding its IP practice and helping three firms with their burgeoning transactional practices.

Attracted to BCG by its knowledge of the industry, its approach to the recruiting process and its standard of representation, Jamie identified with BCG's core value of providing attorneys the best representation and knowledge of firms while providing law firms the highest quality candidate. Her unique vantage of having served on both sides of the fence offers her the opportunity to bring attorneys and firms together with the confidence that she is aiding both to achieve long-term goals.

  • Recently, I had the privilege of working with Jamie in your Chicago office and wanted to express how much I enjoyed working with her and BCG during my job search. Most candidates who have used other recruiters before BCG probably share the same story—a recruiter spends a short amount of time with a candidate and then wants to peddle a résumé to a number of potential employers or sell you on an open position in another firm. Unlike recruiters at other organizations, Jamie spent a considerable amount of time with me at the beginning of the process learning about my background, skill set, and motivations to find firms that would be a good fit. She was friendly and straightforward. She identified my strengths and weaknesses as a candidate and offered useful suggestions on preparing for interviews. Jamie also prepared detailed summaries about me for firms that interviewers remarked were very helpful to them.

With Jamie's help, I received an offer within six weeks. Throughout the process, I was impressed by not only her professionalism and investment of time in my search, but also by her genuine care and concern for me as an individual. I would highly recommend Jamie to anyone in the market.

  • BCG recruiters have participated in a number of Northwestern Law career programs, including our Mock Interview Program and our Market Series, which introduces students to different legal markets around the country. We have been extremely pleased with the recruiters from BCG who have generously given of their time to help students in their career planning. We have received excellent feedback from students about the recruiters and the programs they have presented. We're looking forward to working with BCG on future programs.

  • I can’t thank Jamie enough for her assistance in my transition. Jamie clearly had information about the firms which was more than that publicly available. It made a difficult process for me considerably less so.

  • Following my initial consultation with Jamie, she came back to me with an extensive list of firms who were looking for someone with my level of experience. All were very suitable, several impressive and some outstanding.

  • When I contacted Jamie I said that I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to stay in the law. Jamie was very understanding. There was no coercion but Jamie said this is what I have on the table at the moment, these are the firms and this is what they are like. Jamie pointed out that it didn’t have to be as it was at my previous firm. Jamie was very familiar with the Chicago market, she knew lots of information about the firms she suggested to me. The pace was pretty fast, all in all, about 3 weeks from discussion to offer. Ultimately, I took an offer and, at the 6 month point, its exactly as it was described.

  • I was absolutely thrilled with the service I received from BCG Attorney Search and from Jamie in particular. I’ve recommended you to several friends already.

  • After each interview, Jamie provided me with solid feedback of my performance, including my strengths and weaknesses, it was invaluable. I got the impression that Jamie was an old hand at this, she was very confident in her guidance. She also knew so many people in the industry and large amounts of detail about each firm.
