October 30, 2013

Pasadena, CA - According to an article titled "Which Cities Give Young Lawyers the Biggest Bang for Their Buck?" featuring on Above the Law on 9 January, the legal market is thriving and strong in certain cities throughout the U.S., giving young attorneys the greatest buying power based on starting salaries. For the greatest purchasing power and the largest median starting salary, Dallas, Texas ranks number one on the list of the top ten cities. Similar observations have been made by the ADP's Regional Employment Report of September 2013 featuring on ADP's official site. As per the report, Texas added 22,330 private-sector jobs, with more than 4,000 in the professional and business services industry. Employment also increased in the South Atlantic, Mid Atlantic, Pacific, and West South Central Region, which coincides with the top-ten cities report with greatest starting salary opportunities. These states include: Delaware, North Carolina, California, Massachusetts, Washington, D.C., Tennessee, and Michigan. Both California and Texas have two cities within the top ten list. Specifically, the Mid-Atlantic region has generated the largest number of new private-sector jobs during the month of September, noting that Washington, D.C. had a monthly change of .28% in private employment.

"With current employment up over prior months within these regions, the professional business services sector is forecasted to continue to add jobs at a healthy pace," said Harrison Barnes, Chief Executive Officer of BCG Attorney Search, a legal recruiting firm that features global legal employment job opportunities. "There is tremendous viability and employment options within these big cities that appeal to those searching for opportunities with both Big Law and boutique firms."

Conducting market research on the BCG Attorney Search website, a recent job search indicated that there are more than 3,000 attorney jobs available throughout the U.S. "It's definitely worth looking at major metropolises on the site for potential opportunities," said Barnes
