Job Overview: A law firm in San Francisco, CA, seeks an experienced Labor And Employment Counsel to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate (JD), 10+ years of relevant experience, and be licensed to practice law in California. The role requires defending against single-plaintiff litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and reasonable accommodation cases. Experience with PAGA matters and class actions is essential. The candidate must possess strong research and writing skills, have a successful academic record, and be capable of independently managing cases from start to finish.

Duties:

  • Defend against single-plaintiff litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and reasonable accommodation cases.
  • Handle PAGA matters and class actions.
  • Independently manage cases from start to finish.
  • Draft and respond to initial pleadings and discovery.
  • Draft and argue motions, including dispositive and discovery motions.
  • Take and defend depositions, including those of plaintiffs and corporate witnesses.
  • Provide employment counseling on federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Develop strategies for case resolution and litigation management.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis as needed.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in labor and employment law.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of California.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in defending against single-plaintiff litigation matters.
  • Experience with PAGA matters and class actions.
  • Ability to manage cases independently from start to finish.
  • Proven track record of drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Experience in employment counseling and advising clients on legal matters.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the State of California.
