Job Overview
A respected national law firm is seeking a mid-level Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join its San Diego office. This position is ideal for a candidate with at least four years of experience in employment litigation, particularly on the management side. The role involves hands-on litigation responsibilities, including appearances in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, as well as handling discovery, motions, and trial preparation.

Duties

  • Represent management-side clients in employment litigation matters

  • Handle cases before federal and state courts and agencies involving fair employment laws, wage and hour claims, FMLA, and related issues

  • Attend hearings, draft and respond to discovery, and prepare motions in federal and state court

  • Take responsibility for litigation matters with minimal supervision

  • Assist in preparing cases for trial

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in labor and employment litigation

  • Experience handling cases before administrative agencies and courts

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation responsibilities

  • Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Must be admitted to the California State Bar and in good standing

Skills

  • Excellent academic credentials and legal writing skills

  • Strong knowledge of State and Federal employment statutes, including FMLA and wage-hour laws

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing cases with minimal direction

  • Effective oral advocacy and courtroom presence

  • Strong research and analytical skills
