Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm is seeking a Trusts & Estates Associate Attorney with 3–8 years of relevant experience to join its well-established and respected Trusts & Estates Practice Group. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex estate planning, administration, and tax matters for high-net-worth individuals, families, and charitable entities. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge and a client-focused mindset, along with a commitment to excellence and professional growth.

Location:

  • Charlotte, NC

Duties:

  • Advise clients on estate planning strategies, including wills, trusts, and advanced directives

  • Assist with the administration of estates and trusts, including probate proceedings

  • Provide counsel on charitable giving and philanthropic planning

  • Analyze and implement tax-efficient estate and gift planning solutions

  • Draft comprehensive estate planning documents and related legal instruments

  • Coordinate with financial advisors, CPAs, and other professionals to implement plans

  • Stay current on federal and state tax laws relevant to trusts and estates

Requirements:

  • 3–8 years of prior legal experience, primarily focused in the trusts and estates practice area

  • Strong understanding of estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning

  • Ability to manage multiple matters independently while maintaining high attention to detail

  • Demonstrated experience working with high-net-worth individuals and family-owned businesses

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the North Carolina Bar (or ability to become licensed promptly)

Skills:

  • Excellent drafting and legal writing skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly

  • Professionalism, discretion, and integrity in handling sensitive client matters

  • Collaborative approach and ability to work within a team-based environment
