Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A Charlotte, NC-based law firm is expanding its legal team and seeks a driven Associate Attorney licensed in North Carolina, with a preference for dual NC/SC licensure. This role presents a valuable opportunity to contribute to a thriving legal practice in a dynamic setting that supports professional independence, collaborative growth, and personalized practice development. The position involves handling real estate transactions and estate planning matters, with the flexibility to explore additional legal areas based on the attorney’s interests and strengths.

Duties:

  • Conduct residential and commercial real estate closings with accuracy and professionalism

  • Prepare and review legal documents related to estate planning (wills, trusts, powers of attorney, etc.)

  • Maintain client communication throughout the transaction and planning process

  • Represent the firm at closings and other legal proceedings as needed

  • Collaborate with support staff and other attorneys to ensure smooth case handling

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand service offerings aligned with your skills

  • Maintain compliance with all legal, ethical, and regulatory standards

Requirements:

  • Active license and good standing with the North Carolina Bar

  • Eligibility or an active license with the South Carolina Bar is strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in real estate transactions (residential and/or commercial)

  • Foundational knowledge in estate planning principles and documentation

  • Ability to manage tasks independently with minimal oversight

  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational abilities

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina (mandatory)

  • Licensed in South Carolina (preferred)

Skills:

  • Proficient in drafting and reviewing legal documentation

  • Detail-oriented with strong time management

  • Adaptable and capable of working in multiple practice areas

  • Trustworthy and able to build rapport with clients
