Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is looking to hire an experienced Patent Agent with a strong background in biotechnology. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of patent prosecution experience and will be responsible for managing patent prosecution, IP diligence, IP-transfer commercial transactions, and strategic IP business counseling. A graduate degree in a biological science is required, with preference for candidates holding a PhD in a related field. Location:

Duties:

  • Lead and assist with patent prosecution for biotechnology-related clients.
  • Provide IP diligence and assist with IP-transfer commercial transactions.
  • Offer strategic IP business counseling to clients.
  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications, amendments, and responses to office actions.
  • Collaborate with legal teams and clients on various biotechnology and IP matters.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and changes in IP law.
  • Manage client relationships and provide advice on patent portfolio strategies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Experience in biotechnology-related IP matters.
  • Admission to the U.S. patent bar is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • A graduate degree in a biological science (required).
  • PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, genetics, or a closely related field is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the U.S. patent bar.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of patent prosecution and IP law, particularly in biotechnology.
