Job Overview

A leading law firm is seeking a Capital Markets Associate with 1–2 years of experience to join its New York office. This is a full-time, partnership-track position offering the opportunity to work on sophisticated corporate transactions within the capital markets space. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and an interest in capital markets transactions, particularly those related to the power and utilities industries.

Location

Duties

  • Assist in the representation of issuers and underwriters in public and private securities offerings

  • Draft and review offering memoranda, registration statements, and related transactional documents

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memos relating to securities and corporate governance matters

  • Participate in due diligence and assist with transaction management

  • Support senior attorneys with deal structuring and client communications

  • Collaborate across practice groups, including corporate, regulatory, and finance teams

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience handling capital markets or sophisticated corporate transactions

  • Interest in working with clients in the power and utilities sector

  • Ability to manage assignments across multiple matters under tight deadlines

  • Experience with securities law and regulatory compliance is a plus

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Strong academic performance required

Certifications

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (must be active and in good standing)

Skills

  • Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills

  • High level of attention to detail and organizational abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
