Job Overview

A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Associate to join its corporate practice group in the Washington, D.C. office. This position focuses on employee benefits and executive compensation, including advising on equity plans, executive retention arrangements, retirement and welfare plans, and the handling of benefits and compensation issues in mergers and acquisitions. This is a key opportunity for attorneys looking to work with high-caliber clients in a dynamic and collaborative environment with hybrid work flexibility.

Duties

  • Advise clients on executive compensation and employee benefits issues in corporate transactions, including M&A

  • Draft and review equity plans, executive retention packages, and related agreements

  • Counsel on retirement plans, welfare benefit plans, and deferred compensation arrangements

  • Provide legal guidance regarding compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and other relevant laws

  • Support clients with day-to-day benefits plan administration and regulatory compliance

  • Collaborate with corporate, tax, and employment law colleagues on complex matters

  • Ensure timely, high-quality work product and responsive client service

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law

  • Experience with equity-based compensation, retirement and welfare plans, and transactional benefits work

  • Prior experience at an AmLaw 100 firm or similar high-caliber law firm preferred

  • Admitted to practice in the District of Columbia

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Strong academic record required

Certifications

  • Active member of the District of Columbia Bar (required)
