A law firm in Cleveland, OH, is seeking an ERISA Associate Attorney with 5-7 years of law firm experience to focus on ERISA employee benefits, including ESOP matters. The attorney will represent sophisticated firm clients in all areas of employee benefits law, including qualified and non-qualified retirement plan design and compliance, ESOP transactions, sponsor and fiduciary risk management, benefit plan documentation, executive compensation, health and welfare benefit plans, ERISA claims and dispute resolution, and governmental investigations and audits.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation in all aspects of ERISA employee benefits law.
  • Focus on qualified and non-qualified retirement plan design and compliance.
  • Handle ESOP transactions and related matters.
  • Advise clients on sponsor and fiduciary risk management.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate benefit plan documentation.
  • Address executive compensation issues.
  • Work with health and welfare benefit plans.
  • Assist in ERISA claims and dispute resolution.
  • Manage governmental investigations and audits.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff within the department.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 5-7 years of law firm experience, with a focus on ERISA employee benefits.
  • Strong knowledge of qualified and non-qualified retirement plan design and compliance.
  • Experience in ESOP transactions and sponsor/fiduciary risk management.
  • Proficiency in benefit plan documentation and executive compensation.
  • Familiarity with health and welfare benefit plans.
  • Competence in ERISA claims and dispute resolution.
  • Ability to manage governmental investigations and audits.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
