A law firm is seeking a Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney in Nashville. The Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney will be responsible for patent preparation and prosecution activities related to medical devices and mechanical products. The ideal candidate should have a background in biomedical or mechanical engineering coupled with substantial patent experience. The role requires a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and a strong academic record. The candidate should demonstrate high-level achievements, possess solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience, and exhibit excellent writing and communication skills.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent preparation and prosecution for medical devices and mechanical engineering innovations.
  • Provide legal advice on patent strategy and portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and clients to understand technical aspects and draft patent applications accordingly.
  • Conduct patent searches and analyze prior art to assess patentability.
  • Assist in the development of intellectual property strategies for clients.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering. Other engineering disciplines with substantial patent experience in medical devices or mechanical products are acceptable.
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • High level of academic achievement.
