Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a skilled Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with 2-6 years of legal experience to join their team in Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will have a computer science, electrical engineering, or similar background, with expertise in IP, drafting, and patent prosecution. Experience in design engineering, particularly with a chip company, is highly desirable. Candidates with additional expertise in networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or related areas are preferred. Admittance to the USPTO is a requirement, while bar licensure in California is considered advantageous.

Duties:

  • Conducting patent prosecution activities, including drafting and filing patent applications.
  • Collaborating with inventors and clients to understand inventions and prepare patent specifications.
  • Conducting patentability and clearance searches.
  • Analyzing prior art and preparing legal opinions.
  • Assisting in patent litigation matters, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Providing legal counsel on patent portfolio management and strategy.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of legal experience.
  • Experience in intellectual property law, particularly in drafting and patent prosecution.
  • Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or similar field.
  • Design engineering experience with a chip company is a plus.
  • Familiarity with networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or related technologies preferred.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar.
  • USPTO registration.
