Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a dynamic Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with 2-6 years of legal experience. The ideal candidate will possess IP expertise, particularly in drafting and patent prosecution. Candidates with backgrounds in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields are preferred. Design engineering experience with a chip company is advantageous. Knowledge or experience in networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless network, or similar areas is highly desirable. Admission to the USPTO is necessary, and bar licensure in California is considered a plus.

Duties:

  • Conducting patent prosecution, including drafting applications and responses to office actions.
  • Analyzing patentability, infringement, and validity issues.
  • Collaborating with inventors and technical experts to gather information relevant to patent applications.
  • Managing patent portfolios and providing strategic advice to clients.
  • Conducting legal research and staying updated on relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assisting in patent litigation matters when necessary.
  • Drafting legal opinions and providing counsel on intellectual property matters.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of legal experience.
  • Experience in IP law with a focus on drafting and patent prosecution.
  • Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Design engineering experience with a chip company is a plus.
  • Familiarity with networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless network, or similar technologies.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Bar licensure in California is advantageous.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
