A law firm in Portland, Oregon is seeking a skilled Mid-level Employment and Labor Law Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate should have focused experience in employment law, preferably in representing both public and private management/employers in state and federal courts, as well as agency proceedings. Additional experience in drafting policies, handbooks, and employment-related agreements, and advising employers on wage/hour issues, leave law compliance, disability accommodation, and discrimination and retaliation issues is preferred. Membership in the Oregon State Bar Association is required, and a Washington State Bar license is a plus. The position requires 2-5 years of experience.

 

Duties:

  • Represent clients in employment law matters, including litigation in state and federal courts.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to employers on a wide range of employment-related issues.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, policies, handbooks, and other related documents.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on employment law issues.
  • Advise clients on wage and hour compliance, leave law requirements, disability accommodation, and discrimination and retaliation matters.
  • Handle agency proceedings before state and federal agencies, such as the EEOC and BOLI.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff on complex employment law cases.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates and guidance.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in Oregon (Membership in the Oregon State Bar Association required).
  • 2-5 years of focused experience in employment law, preferably representing both public and private management/employers.
  • Experience drafting employment-related agreements, policies, and handbooks.
  • Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws, leave law compliance, disability accommodation, and discrimination and retaliation issues.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Washington State Bar license (a plus).

 

Education:

Juris Doctorate (Required)

 

Certifications:

  • Membership in the Oregon State Bar Association (Required)
