A law firm in Washington D.C. is seeking a Projects (Energy and Infrastructure) Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of energy regulatory experience. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with the rules and regulations of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and an interest in drafting project-level agreements such as power purchase agreements and other offtake agreements.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and support on energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance matters, particularly regarding FERC regulations.
  • Draft and review project-level agreements, including power purchase agreements and offtake agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on energy regulatory issues.
  • Collaborate with clients, government agencies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in negotiations and meetings with project stakeholders.
  • Assist with due diligence for energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Stay updated on changes in energy regulations and industry trends.

 

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of energy regulatory experience.
  • Prior experience with FERC regulations is strongly preferred.
  • Interest in drafting project-level agreements is a plus.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the District of Columbia Bar or eligibility for admission.

 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of energy regulatory principles and procedures.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough legal research and analysis.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
