A law firm in Washington, D.C. is seeking an Energy and Climate Solutions Associate Attorney to assist clients in developing technologies, business models, and projects aimed at decarbonizing and increasing efficiencies across various sectors. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of the Federal Power Act and relevant regulatory aspects, along with strong writing and research skills to craft persuasive FERC pleadings.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and support to clients in the development of technologies, business models, and projects focused on decarbonization and efficiency improvements.
  • Conduct legal research on aspects of the Federal Power Act relevant to independent power producers, including RTO/ISO market design, Section 203 applications, Section 205 rate filings, Section 206 complaints, energy market compliance and reporting, PURPA, and FERC's regulation of project interconnection, transmission, and shared facilities matters.
  • Draft and file FERC pleadings, including applications, complaints, and compliance reports.
  • Assist clients in navigating FERC regulatory processes, including project interconnection, transmission, and shared facilities matters.
  • Stay updated on developments in energy and climate regulations to provide proactive legal counsel to clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address legal issues and achieve project objectives.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar and eligibility to practice law in Washington, D.C.
  • 2-4 years of experience in FERC and energy regulatory matters.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Federal Power Act and relevant regulatory aspects.
  • Strong writing and research skills, with the ability to craft persuasive FERC pleadings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
