DSSP Incident Response Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a DSSP Incident Response Associate Attorney to handle proactive and reactive data protection matters, including advising on data security incidents, regulatory investigations, and compliance with contractual and legal obligations. The role involves assisting with privacy issues, advising clients on cybersecurity laws, defending regulatory investigations, preparing disclosures, negotiating contracts, and providing counsel on cybersecurity matters to M&A deal teams and firm colleagues.

Duties:

• Advise clients on compliance with cybersecurity laws
• Manage state, federal, and international data security incident notification obligations
• Defend regulatory investigations related to security
• Prepare public-facing consumer disclosures and internal company policies
• Draft, revise, and negotiate data and technology contracts
• Provide cybersecurity counsel to M&A deal teams and firm colleagues

Requirements:

• 2-4 years of legal experience
• Foundational knowledge of federal, state, and foreign cybersecurity laws
• Motivation to learn technology and forensic investigations
• Prefer experience liaising with claims counsel and forensic experts
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Commitment to continuing proficiency in cybersecurity and data privacy laws
• Admission to GA Bar

Education & Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to the State Bar of Georgia

Skills:

• Legal counseling in cybersecurity and incident response
• Knowledge of state data breach notification laws, CCPA, HIPAA, GLBA, etc.
• Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Project management and organizational skills
• Drafting legal materials in business-friendly language
