Job Overview:

The DSSP Advisory Associate Attorney will be pivotal in providing legal counsel on data strategy counseling and privacy compliance matters. They will assist in advising clients on various aspects of privacy legislation, internal policy development, and risk assessment related to data use and privacy. This position requires 2-4 years of legal experience in privacy and data strategy issues.

Duties:

• Assist the team in advising clients on the development of enterprise privacy programs.
• Evaluate the operational impact of draft and newly enacted privacy legislation.
• Draft and review consumer disclosures and internal privacy and data use policy documents.
• Identify and assess privacy and security risks in product design, operational use cases, and proposed business partnerships.
• Assist with incident response and transactional diligence as needed.

Requirements:

• 2-4 years of legal experience, preferably focusing on privacy and/or data strategy issues.
• Familiarity with the California Consumer Privacy Act/California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA) and other US state privacy laws.
• Knowledge of international privacy and security laws such as COPPA, GDPR, BIPA, GLBA, and VPPA is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to draft memos in business-friendly language.
• Prior technology experience, such as software development or employment at a tech company, is helpful.
• CIPP/US certification is preferred.
• Admission to the Georgia Bar is required.
