A law firm in New York City is seeking a Biotech Intellectual Property Associate Attorney to join its team. The successful candidate will have 0-5 years of experience, hold an advanced degree (Ph.D.) in biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or microbiology, and possess relevant experience practicing before the USPTO. A J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school, NY Bar admission, and eligibility for admission to practice before the USPTO as a registered U.S. Patent Attorney is essential.

 

Duties:

  • Conducted patent prosecution and managed patent portfolios in the biotechnology sector.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO
  • Provide legal advice on intellectual property matters related to biotechnology
  • Conduct due diligence for intellectual property transactions
  • Collaborate with inventors, scientists, and business professionals to identify and protect intellectual property
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on biotech-related legal issues
  • Assist with patent litigation matters as needed

 

Experience:

0-5 years of relevant experience in biotech intellectual property law

 

Education:

Ph.D. in biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or microbiology

 

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York Bar
  • Admission (or ability to become admitted) to practice before the USPTO as a registered U.S. Patent Attorney

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in biotechnology and related fields
  • Patent prosecution and portfolio management skills
  • Legal research and analysis abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse professionals, including scientists and business professionals
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with organic chemistry and bioinformatics is desired
